Thimble flower pot – Pot de fleurs dé à coudre

A tutorial I bookmarked last year: the thimble necklace! I only had a plastic thimble for this and I used E-6000 glue. Not a good idea! At first, everything was fine but two days after making the necklace, I wore it to go shopping and the plastic started to melt inwards at the bottom. The glue and the plastic were probably reacting to the sun and heat. So now, I will try it differently. I have another plastic thimble so I will try it with hot glue instead. And for the metal and porcelain thimbles that my mother gave me, I will try both E-6000 and hot glue to see which one works best and I’ll let you know about the results.

So pretty! I bookmarked this too! I actually really love the plastic version (you know I love plastic), so even though it melted (yikes!) I hope you find a way to make a stable one because it is way cuuuute!

Yikes! E6000 glue has acetone and toluene in it, and acetone and toluene both melt plastic when heated up… I learned that in art school when I went to do a solvent transfer using a plastic bunisher! E6000 should be okay in ceramic though… I hope you didn’t burn yourself! Acetone can leave a nasty rash.

Super cute necklace though! Another great project I’ll have to bookmark myself.
