Back to art

Summer went by fast and I barely had time to create anything. I took a few classes at my local scrapbooking store and made a few cards (one wedding, one birthday) but other than that, I didn’t really have or take the time to really sit down and create just for the fun of it. And boy, do I miss that!

Now that school has started again and I’m back to a regular routine with work, I want to also create a regular routine for art. In fact I NEED to have time for art every single day. I’ve been neglecting my creativity for too long now and I believe it is hurting me.

Today, I had the pleasure of taking a class from Dina Wakley called “Puddles and Pockets.” We were working in our art journal, making a double page spread. We splattered paint and got our hands dirty. It was great! At first, my colours were very dark which surprised me but then, I was able to lighten things up. I love my finished page which you can see below:

Puddles and pocketsAt the top, you can see the page with the tags tucked into their pockets and I pulled them out for the bottom photo. We used acrylic paints and Dylusion sprays as well as some stencils and stamps. A 3-hours class that was worth every minute!

I love taking classes from known artists. So far, I’ve been able to take classes from Finnabair, Donna Downey, Joanne Sharpe, Jenn Starr, Cathy Bluteau and, of course, Dina Wakley. And a little birdy told me that other wonderful artists will be visiting us in the next year… Yay!

Thanks for sticking around and being patient while I find my way back. I love my readers and I miss sharing my passion with you. Hopefully, this time, the blogging habit will stick… ūüėČ

  1. What a surprise I got when I saw your comment on my blog. I have wondered about you and came over to your blog a couple of times but saw nothing new. I’m glad to see you back…I always enjoy your art and your ability to do just about anything.

  2. Welcome back to your art and creative time !
Where are you taking these great classes ? Looks like a lot of inspiration.
Having just moved to Florida, I am on the look out for new places to connect with other artist in person. But I am always thankful when I come back to my blog and find friends there. Be well, and create !
