The last of the zentangle coasters

Zentangle Coasters 21 to 31

Here is my last set of Zentangle Coasters. I have to tell you, it was getting to be quite a challenge towards the end, deciding which “tangles” to draw and how to place them on the tile. I’m glad I’m done with them… for now. The photo below shows two stacks: on the left, the ones from September 2011; on the right, the ones from January 2016.

I decided that my daily art for February will be ATCs: artist trading cards. I’ll be posting them daily on Facebook and Instagram with a weekly update on here. And yes, they will all be available to trade, if anyone is interested…

Zentangle Coasters 11 to 20

My collection of Zentangle coasters is coming along nicely. I seem to be playing more with the shading now, to add dimension. There are days when I just don’t know what to doodle anymore but I keep doing it anyway. In this batch, I did one of the coaster with a metallic gel pen so it doesn’t have many fine lines and it looks a bit different. Can you spot it?

I haven’t decided yet what my daily art project will be for February. I’m open to suggestions if you have them. Keep in mind that I don’t knit or crochet…

Have a nice week!

New Zentangle Coasters

Over the past few months, I’ve noticed that my Zentangle Coasters have been some of my most popular blog posts and have been pinned often on Pinterest. So when I decided to do a daily project for January and I found a pile of 31 (no more, no less) blank coasters, I decided to continue my collection. I still have all the ones done in 2011 and my plan is to put them on my living room table which I will then cover with a piece of glass. In the meantime, here are the first ten coasters:

Last week, I also made myself a new mousepad from craft foam and a piece of stiff fabric (I think it used to be self-adhesive and was sold for scrapbooking.) Isn’t it cute?

So far, this month, I’ve done my daily coasters and some daily lettering as well, which I’ll show you later this week, I hope. But I haven’t done much art journaling. My job requires a lot of energy and at the end of the day, there’s not much left for anything else. Still, I think I’m doing quite well, all things considered…

Art on!

Journals

Pile of journals.JPG

This is the pile of small journals and notebooks I’m working in these days. I have several more journals that are incomplete and which I plan to fill up this year. And when I say several, I mean at least five or six.

The ones in this photo all have different purposes: the one at the bottom is my lettering journal (made from a dollar store composition book) and I’m using it to write quotes in pretty lettering for Kate’s #letteringjanuary challenge; the second one is to keep track of a daily ritual I started in August (1 self portrait + 1$ in a jar each day until my 40th birthday); the third book is an altered book I just started for Journal 52 and Colour Me Positive; the 4th book is for Lisa Sonora’s class Creative + Practice; the 5th book is my planner (altered dollar store notebook); and, finally, my mini Moleskine I can carry with me at all times.

In front of the journal pile is a stack of 31 blank coasters. I’m drawing Zentangles on them, one per day, for the month of January. I’ll post the first batch at the end of the week.

How many journals/notebooks and or projects are you working on right now?

Challenges

For those who wanted more information about Art Abandonment, you can go to Micheal De Meng’s blog. The idea is simply to create art and abandon the piece for someone else to find and enjoy. This one is a 4″x4″ coaster which has been decorated with waterproof pens and markers. Same little character as the first abandonment. She’s new and hasn’t told me her story yet.

Another challenge I’ve decided to take up is to draw every day, using this list. Tammy of Daisy Yellow has inspired me to get started and I will share my drawings one a week for as long as I create them.

Lastly, the biggest challenge of all, is the unpacking + organizing of my apartment. So many boxes, so much stuff… I’m doing one or two boxes at a time so I don’t get overwhelmed but it’s taking a lot of time. So maybe I should get off the computer and do a little more…😉

30 coasters and 700 posts – 30 sous-verres et 700 articles

It’s the last day of September and I now have a nice stack of zentangle coasters! I am looking for a good way to seal them so they can be used as real coasters. And if that works, I will put them in my shop. Meanwhile, today’s post is #700 and I thought it would be a good idea to have a little giveaway. So, comment on this post before next Friday and you will have a chance to receive your very own Zentangle coaster as well as an envelope filled with crafty goodness.

Good luck and have a nice weekend!

Zentangle coasters – Sous-verres zentangles

September has been such a busy month for me that I haven’t been able to actually do one coaster per day. Some days, I did none while other days I made two or three. I’m still a little behind for this week but I will complete the last of my coasters before the weekend, that’s for sure. My mother has been doing really well with this project and I am so proud of her for keeping it up.
