Week 6 of 365 Somethings

The ICAD challenge is now officially over. I took one day “off” of my daily art habit and re-started my 365 Somethings. You won’t get to see what I did yesterday because I’m still playing catch-up here to post for that challenge. Today, you get to see my creations for week 6 which was from February 5th to the 11th.

  1. Last year, I saved two boxes of Write-on slides at work from ending up in the trash. Since no one uses projectors anymore in schools, they didn’t need these. I stamped on one and coloured with alcohol inks and a blender marker. I also used a permanent marker on the border to make it black. I might still turn this into a pendant. I have lots more slides to use so if anyone’s interested in receiving a few to use in your own art, please, feel free to contact me.
  2. A simple “Thank you” card using three stamps and punched out butterflies. I saw a similar idea on Pinterest and loved the idea.
  3. Abstract art with many stamps in my art journal inspired by the talented Andrea Clement. I love her work. Amongst other things, she carves her own stamps (I discovered her art during Carve December.)
  4. A colourful card using one stamp. I had this idea in mind for some time and I really like the way it turned out. I might do some variations on this card in the future.
  5. and
  6. Using the other stamps from the same set as the orange, I made four smaller cards. I used water-based markers to add two colours on the stamps and print them. I also used an embossing folder to add texture to the white background. I just love this little set.
  7. Finally, a birthday card for a very special little girl, my niece Clara who turned 1.

I don’t know if it was because Valentine’s day was so close or just the need for bright happy colours but that week, I had used a lot of pink and red. And I love every single thing I created, which is not always the case.

Do you have a favourite from my Week 6? If so, let me know in the comments! And, as I stated above, if anyone’s interested in using some write-on slides in their art, contact me and I’ll be happy to send you a few.

Until next time!

Lets keep going

Yes, you’ve guessed it! I’ve decided to re-revive my blog! Surprised?

I hadn’t expected to take such a long break from my blog. And it’s not like I had nothing to show you because I kept up with my 365 Somethings for the whole month of February. Then I had a nice little vacation in March. Which is when I stopped creating. But then June arrived and with it came the ICAD challenge (Index Card-a-Day) which was a great way to get back to art. I’ve been posting those on Instagram every day but I’ve been feeling like something was missing. So here I am.

Before I tell you about the creations above, I just want to let you all know that though I have stopped my 365 Somethings challenge, I plan to pick it back up after ICAD is over. I figure that if I make 2 things per day, even if I miss a few days, I’ll get to my goal of 365 items. And keep in mind that my personal challenge was to use my rubber stamps and clear stamps.

Now, about the images at the top of this post. They were made for Week 5 of 365 Somethings which was from January 29th to February 4th. The first card could definitely be used for Valentine’s Day and I used a die-cut sheet that I’ve had for years. Cards two and three were made on the same day and I focused more on the colouring with the stamped images. Cards four and five were done together and I simply changed the patterned paper and cardstock colour. The following day I simply coloured a stamped lady in my small art journal. Then, seeing that my art journal was already out, I made a spread the next day. And finally, I made two cards, reproducing one I had done years ago at a make-n-take (it’s the one on the left, of course.)

Thank you so much for your patience. And if you read all the way through, you rock!
