>Crusade 45 – Back to back

> In this month’s crusade, Michelle asks us to make colour copies of the backgrounds we made in the previous months. With those copies, we are asked to fill the pages with different techniques/supplies. Here is my original background for this first round: Here is my first version, on a colour copy: I used images from magazine that I had previously cut and put in folders. For the face, I painted with gesso and acrylic over the features to alter the image. I did my usual scallop border with black Poster Paint marker and very little journaling. My second version, … Continue reading >Crusade 45 – Back to back

>Crusade 44 – In a Scrape part 2

> As promised last week and yesterday, here are some more journals backgrounds. The first 3 are from my leather-bound journal and the last 3 from my sketchbook. I used the scraping method on all of them to apply colour and a few more techniques on some of them. Continue reading >Crusade 44 – In a Scrape part 2

>Crusade 44 – In a Scrape

> For this month’s crusade, Michelle is asking us to apply paint to our pages with a scraping tool such as an old credit card or spackle blade. This is something I do often but I usually do one or two colours max. I was trying to go for a grungier look this time so I layered many different colours. I also tried scraping through a stencil and over a mask but I didn’t particularly like that so I scraped more paint over it. I’ll keep playing with this technique and maybe I’ll find a better way to use the … Continue reading >Crusade 44 – In a Scrape

>Crusade 43 – Text Messaging

> For this month’s crusade, Michelle asks us to cut text from magazine pages and to make a collage out of it. I don’t have a lot of magazines so I also used text from junk mail. There isn’t much else to say about this project. I did enjoy looking for interesting fonts though. Continue reading >Crusade 43 – Text Messaging

>Crusade 42 – Strip Ease

> A new challenge is up on the GPP Street Team blog: Strip Ease! The idea is to tear strips of paper and add them to the page. I started with a children’s book page and some patterned papers. I then covered it all with a glaze of red acrylic. On another book page, I drew a girl over gesso and then painted her with watercolour. Finally, I wrote some text on plain paper, made some torn strips out of it, distressed them and glued them on the page. The absolute last thing I did was add oil pastel around … Continue reading >Crusade 42 – Strip Ease

>Another grid journal page

> I told you last week you’d see more grid pages from me. Well here is one. I decided to do this one as a *Me First Journaling* as Michelle Ward puts it. I chose some of my favourite supplies and pieces I couldn’t discard and stuck them to the grid. Those things are: self-adhesive fabric, printed felt, 7gypsies sticker, Italian jewelry envelop, mini journaling spots, vintage lace, decorative tapes, an old French dictionary page and words from a children’s illustrated French dictionary. This was a really fun page to do. *** Je vous avais dit la semaine dernière que … Continue reading >Another grid journal page

>Crusdade No.41 – Grid Lock

>  For the second month in a row, I am participating in Michelle Ward’s GPP Street Team’s Crusade. And this month, our task is to create grids in our journal. That challenge really caught my attention. So off I went to create some grids. The first one I filled with my latest stamps as seen here and I added some of my favourite hand-carved stamps as well. That was an easy page. The next one was equally simple when I decided to sample my dye ink pads. These are small, about 1″ square, except for the ones at the bottom … Continue reading >Crusdade No.41 – Grid Lock
